There's only one hoax in the Amityville story. That's Geraldine Gates. Sorry to go somewhat off topic for a sec, but if Geraldine is claiming she testified in the Trial then if we somehow got the full transcripts wouldn't it prove she didnt? Back on topic, how many hoaxes are there in this case?! Let's see....Lutz..Warrens...Holzer, all making up hoaxes! I doubt it. Holzer was a credible man (in my opinion) and I learned much from him. He had little to no interest in 112 Ocean Ave and wrote two purely fictional books. And one non-fiction book which explained his opinion based on his research of the case. No hoax, also he even expressed his upset with George Lutz who he felt was more pleased with the film then the findings (remember this was around the time George had to promote the film). But I don't see Dr.Holzer acting out a "hoax". The only person who definitely without a doubt is a hoax is Geraldine Gates. Sorry for my little rant but it really ticks me off when B.S stories like this are made up.

Geraldine, come clean now. Fess up. Anyone who sees the documents here knows that you are lying about many things. The proof is right before our eyes. Your story doesnt add up. Do you really want to be known as a liar?

Tell the true story about you and Ronnie. That would be way more interesting than some phony mob connection, phony baby's father story.

Wow look how archaic eBay used to look... interesting how they'd actually display the seller's email address (so easy to get spammed), and no mention of PayPal (which they now own).

But no pictures, and just a brief description, oh yeah those look legit. Thinking of selling JFK's love letters to Marilyn on eBay with a vague description and no pictures or proof they're real.

Now on to her being a fraud. I question her being a fraud or lying in her mind. Let me explain why. It all goes back to her animal hoarding, in which she had her dogs confiscated twice. There were almost a 100 dogs in her home, many extremely ill with tumors. People in the area complained over the odor for FOUR years... that is one really bad home environment.

One of the things we know about animal hoarding is it often is a symptom of schizophrenia. I do not want to label this woman or point fingers to say she is insane as it takes years of therapy to properly diagnose someone with this illness.

But the hoarding is a red flag for schizophrenia. What do we know about this horrible illness?

We know those who suffer with it have bouts of paranoia. This can be seen in this case with the mafia involvement ~ the main groups that are used in paranoia are 1. government 2. aliens 3. mafia

People who have this illness also create huge fantasy worlds and wrap themselves into the fantasy. They can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy. Max's evidence clearly shows a fantasy world completely made up and desperate attempts to keep the fantasy going.

I am not saying she is schizophrenic but there is solid evidence that would give even the dumbest therapist red flags for the illness.

Here is my thinking ~ Butch took a mentally ill person and conned a fantasy world around her. It includes the mafia and a rather exciting life. She grabs on to this new found fantasy and runs with it. The author of the book and the movie have also taken her to a new level of paranoia and further strengthened this fantasy world. All 3 men should be ashamed of themselves for doing so. It is clear this woman needs serious help.

I am going to guess she has never had serious therapy or have been evaluated by a professional and that is the saddest part. She is clearly delusional and instead of hanging on to her every word and making it worse, these "friends" of hers used her even more to make a fast buck.

I feel bad for the woman. I understand everyone's anger towards her for lying. I understand her son's anger as it is very personal for him. I do think the insults and put downs should be focused towards the writers of book and film however.

On 11-13-1974...Rocco DeFeo arrived at the crime scene with his son-in-law (Vincent Procita) at approximately 7:00 PM.

Just after 9:00 PM...Michael Brigante arrived with his wife and son (Ryan claims that Angela Brigante did not make the trip...and that Mr. Brigante and his son arrived at 7:20 PM...but both of those claims are false).

Earlier in the evening, Geraldine DeFeo had been told by a neighbor that the late TV news was reporting a mass murder in Amityville. Concerned over Dawn's attempted stabbing of Big Ronnie the previous night, she had the neighbor watch her children while she proceeded to Amityville.

Speeding the entire way, Geraldine drove the 90 miles in record time, and arrived close to midnight, just in time to see the body bags being carried out. “Words cannot describe the surreal atmosphere. It was like a dream. The people in the body bags were my family. I was so sure that Butch was dead," Geraldine said.

After joining the other relatives, Michael Brigante Sr. assured Geraldine that Butch was alive and that he had been taken in for questioning. Although she would later try to see her husband, the police refused access to him, reasoning that he had not finished giving his statement.

Well let me ask this. As I am reading High Hopes there is one name of a female that comes up and that name is Sherry Klein. According to the author this is not her real name but was changed for the book High Hopes. Any chance this is Sherry Klein is Geraldine Gates? This has probably come up before in discussion.
