High Hopes Project

Postby elijah95912 » Sun May 03, 2015 7:49 am

Recently, in my Wood shop class, my teacher gave us the choice to build whatever we wanted in class. So, I went straight for the "High Hopes' Sign. Lol.

Here are my plans for for my sign and post that we had to create. I'm going to be an architect anyway, so I love doing these things! I also built a post for the sign, but I don't have pics of it yet. But its a big 4x4 Redwood Post.

I used a piece of 1/2 Inch Plywood and cut it to size then used a bansaw and a jigsaw to cut it to shape.

Then, I glued on a piece of trim I bought at the local hardware store. (I know, I feel like a cheater for buying trim! Haha!)

And here, is the final piece, the finished sign!!!

Poo! I really would like to see your sign! I was going to have one made at Cedar Point (a great amusement park in Ohio), but it would have cost $70. I spent the money on my children instead. Good on you, though--please try to post the photos again.

The result was very good. I have always had a thing with this high hopes sign, I even have a tattoo with those words and I would love to have a sign like the one you did. Thanks for shared it :)

I now have my sign complete, and High Hopes stands proudly in the corner of our yard! There is A LOT of landscaping to be done (such as that HUGE patch of dirt and dead grass to the left of 'High Hopes' which you can thank the little old man we hired to spray weeds...) but this corner piece shall be the start towards our beautiful new yard! I get a lot of people who drive by and look out of curiosity and actually had friends who thought our house went up for sale! LOL
