The Daisy in Amityville

Post by shane2801 » Tue Jun 29, 2010 12:48 am

Hi everyone,

I am travelling to New York next March from Australia and am visiting Amityville. Yes I am going to the house but I am also a huge KISS fan. Apparenlty they played at a venue numerous times in 1973 called "The Daisy" in Amityville. All I know is that it was situated on Broadway in Amityville.
Is there any locals here that could tell me more about this club. It probably isn't there anymore but would like to hear from anyone who went there??
:P
Thanks

I can't find anything in local directories... maybe they aren't there anymore? Hmmm.

A dream can still be born again.
Take a chance,
While there still is time.
Because life turns on a dime."

I also can't find any history of anyone OTHER than Kiss ever playing there. Odd!

Hello Folks,

I just had to bump this thread. I am an avid KISS fan and have read this forum since about 2006. With some research, I am now merging some interesting information from another site I belong to, KISSFAQ.com.

I found out that the Daisy burnt down in the 1980's and that it is now a parking lot with a bar at the corner (I could not find it's name). What is interesting is that the location is about walking distance to 108 Ocean Avenue:

I need to ask a question in the DeFeo Section...

Cheers!

IF your map is right, the bar is either Revolution, which is actually a pretty nice live venue on the corner of Broadway and Montauk. OR JJ's Bar, which is a local dive right across the street

It looks like it is The Revolution Bar and Music Hall ! This makes sense because they now host multiple concerts:

I just moved to ocean avenue, so I don't really know the history of the area. Where was Henry's?

At a guess Amityville was one of many gigs that Kiss played in the Long Island area. The venue was probably popular for new talent to cut their teeth at. I recall Billy Joel started at the same venue.
