I think she was just nutty and had a guilty concious that she made lots of money from a product that killed many people...

I agree. I wonder if there's a similar reasoning behind the Nobel Prize. Or if that was really done simply to change the way history viewed Alfred Nobel (and not born out of a guilty conscious)...
